Statement of Elaine Roberts
Elaine Roberts statement regarding:
1) why she and her partner John H Johnson resigned from the PTS Committee and
2) why we no longer visit PTS.
Elaine states that she has supported PTS all of her life, both as a Medium and on the Committee before being forced to resign in the fall of 2008.
"As a supporter for over 40 years plus my mother before me I remember the stalwarts who kept PTS doors open, including Miss Rose, John and Nellie Baxter, Mabel Robertson, Tommy Richardson, I could go on. When asked to join committee I introduced my partner John H Johnson, a local businessman, hoping he could add his experience to the running of the church.
We served for over 3 years, supporting Sue and Alex Matier, with day to day running, maintenance, setting up a website and running fund raising events for PTS, one of which raised over £1000.00. We and the Matiers experienced great stress, including a witch hunt against Ron and Carol Duffey who were tenants at 44 Parkfield Road but were also volunteering to help manage the property and also volunteered to be wardens, because we defended and supported the Duffeys, as they were an asset to the running of the church since they did alot of work to fix up 44 Parkfield Road such as painting all ground floor areas.
Despite great pressure from PTS Committee Members Denise Theophilus and PTS President Forsyth, we abstained from a vote to evict them, and then found the witch hunt was directed at us. Because John had taken over temporary Treasurer when the former Treasurer Alex Matier was ousted, he was accused of 'cooking the books' by Denise Theophilus and The President. I was forced to resign as it was considered wrong for me to write a letter to a housing tenancy association recommending Ron and Carol Duffy, otherwise they would be homeless without the committees approval. All in all we were glad to go in light of the petty war being waged by the PTS Committee with Denise leading the charge! The committee members that were left were all corrupt and flattering their own egos, and before my mother they were (and some are still) making money via the church out for their own gains.
During our many years on committee dating back to the late 1990's, we dealt with major issues, including tenants who wouldn't leave, wardens who we're dealing drugs and pedophiles. If that wasn't enough we were also battling opposed committee members who were determined to get rid of us. We served the church voluntarily, which we enjoyed, with good hearts, encouraging and welcoming all visitors through the doors, visiting mediums were always happy with the care and consideration when visiting. It is such a shame that we no longer enter this beautiful building, which has such a long history for Spiritual learning and knowledge in Liverpool. We do hope that it can rise from the ashes that it now fallen to, and a community can once again thrive of like minded people, joining together in harmony and friendship, as it once was. God bless all of those who care for the church and what it stands for."
